POMONA—Three people are in custody on Feb. 24 after police arrested them on drug and weapons charges in Pomona.

San Dimas resident Daniel Angulo, 32, and Pomona residents Jesse Quinteros, 38, and Rachelle Lopez, 41, were arrested on various drug and weapons charges, authorities said. Angulo was also arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and Lopez was arrested for transport of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Patrol officers with the Pomona Police Department observed the driver of a white Dodge Challenger committing an unsafe driving maneuver and a traffic violation around 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Mayfair and White avenues, said Pomona Sgt. Mark Medellin.

Officers followed the Challenger and observed a second traffic violation when Quinteros—the driver—began driving above the posted speed limit. The officers then initiated a traffic stop and a pat-down of Quinteros, Angulo, and Lopez.

During the searches they discovered two loaded firearms inside of the vehicle and a backpack that contained fully sealed candy packages with methamphetamines, Medellin said. Angulo was also in possession of hypodermic needles and syringes.

In addition, they found prescription drug pills and U.S. currency, which officers say suggests illegal drug sales. At one point, Angulo admitted that he was in possession of more illegal drugs that were concealed in his pants, Medellin said.

The suspects were transported to the Pomona City Jail and booked under the above-mentioned charges.
