Several days ago the Chinese communist regime arrested all the people that could help attorney Gao Zhisheng; his staff and many supporters were arrested. On Feb 18, journalists still found many plainclothes police in attorney Gao’s office, inside the yard, downstairs, near the elevator, even hiding in the basement.
On the same day, two Beijing local residents came to volunteer their help to Gao for the relay hunger strike. They also were arrested on the spot by the plainclothes police, thrown into a police jeep, and taken away for interrogation.
Mr. Gao’s telephone is also being monitored; callers get a recorded warning message: “You don’t have the right to call this number.” If by some chance a call does get through to attorney Gao, the phone will go dead after one or two minutes.
Usually Mr Gao’s office is full of office workers. Today when journalists came to interview Mr. Gao, there were none.
Journalist: How do you feel, after the communist spies followed you for 91 days?
Gao: In these past 91 days, the outside world has had a chance to understand the covert and insidious secret police in China. They are a gangster society inside the Chinese political system. During these 91 days, the outside world has begun to know how shameless, unscrupulous and despicable the Chinese secret police are. We should say this is something we could have never have expected to happen in these over 90 days.
In the last few days, the repression of my family has become more hysterical and crazy. The Chinese communist regimes’ spies have cut off my home phone line, cut off my Internet connection, cut off all my means to communicate with the outside world.
I want to say thanks to the two brave Beijing residents who came to visit me yesterday hoping to do some volunteer work by helping me to do some typing. They were kidnapped by those secret police, kidnapped to the police station for interrogation. Today, the same thing happened again. Ma Jianmin is an elderly man and it took him several hours to come to my place, and he was taken away by the police as soon as he arrived.
But I am very happy to tell you, today both of my articles have been sent out successfully. So you can say that the CCP’s energy is very limited. My family is still alive, I am still alive; that probably causes the regime and it’s secret police the most distress. These individuals, these spies, they and their families will not be my enemies forever, so I feel no pain over their existence. But my existence is indeed a source of pain to them.
Journalist: People in the Appeals Village are very eager to register in the hunger strike relay, but they could not find a way to contact you, and are very anxious. Can you comment on this?
Gao: From now on, they can participate for one day in every week, but I would like to ask every one of them not to carry on the hunger strike for more than 24 hours. I am very concerned because they are currently living in terrible conditions, and they are extremely undernourished. If their stint supporting the relay hunger strike time is too long, it will cause more damage to them. Although this is the only way left for the Chinese people to protest in this time, I still hope we could reduce this kind of painful way to a minimum.
Journalist: Overseas people are all very concerned about you. It is said that the Chinese Communist regime is going to attack you.
Gao: I don’t want to think about that; indeed a lot of people remind me that, “you are getting more and more in danger!” I asked them, “Why do you think so? What is the representation of danger?” Many friends have told me that the CCP is going to arrest and kill me.”
If you take “arresting you and killing you” as danger, you are in danger all of the time, yet when we do not view that as a danger, the danger is not there, and there is no danger.
Since the Chinese communist regime seized power, how many millions of people have been killed? Every day, there are large numbers of people being arrested and killed; one more arrested, one more killed is something very normal.
I believe that it is against the will of heaven for the Chinese communist regime to arrest me. Although the Chinese communist regime often runs against the will of heaven, I have not done anything wrong. Who is doing wrong? Who should be arrested? The Chinese communist regime and its band of criminals should be arrested.
