The Walking Dead season 5 is set to start filming soon and is set for a premiere date in October 2014. Some peg the date as Sunday, October 12.

Cast members and crew are going to arrive in Georgia in the middle of April in preparation for filming, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) told Entertainment Weekly. Season 4 filming wrapped up last November.

According to an acting audition, season 5 “begins with Rick and the group heading to Washington DC where they meet new danger and a new enemy.”

“Once again, Rick must do whatever it takes to keep the rest of the group safe,” it added.

No other character names were mentioned.

However, it appears that Abraham and Eugene were confirmed for season 5 back in December 2013. Vulture asked executive producer Scott Gimple about the character, and Gimple said:

“We get to know them a little bit. They affect the characters’ stories a great deal, but we’re not going to get into their stories in a deep way until next season.”

If they aren’t killed, Tara, Rosita, and Gareth--the latter will be introduced in the season finale--have options to become regulars in season 5.

Executive producer Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly that season 4 is going to end in a cliffhanger.

“We’re definitely going to being bringing things to another level,” he said. “And the anticipation for the next season after this finale is unfortunately going to be a lot more heightened than it has been between any other season. So it’s going to be a rough summer for Walking Dead fans waiting for us to come back in the fall.”

He added about Rick:

“This last half of season 4 has been a character defining group of stories for everyone, but really, Rick Grimes—really finding what this guy is going to be able to do and how he is going to carry on, and is he going to get these people back together, and where is he going to go from here? And I think there are some big questions that are asked that are going to be answered in this final episode.”

Andrew Lincoln (Rick), meanwhile, told Yahoo that he and the other cast members are excited to start filming season 5.

“Everybody’s going crazy. All the people that are still alive are texting each other,” he said, laughing. “It’s an amazing time. Just because it so beautifully synchronizes... the finale and then suddenly the emails start coming in and everybody starts getting ready [for Season 5]. It’s particularly exciting to start up Season 5, because of where we leave Season 4. It’s a really thrilling place.”
