The Walking Dead season 4 returns in a couple weeks, and some spoilers are being revealed.

Let’s check out some of the ones that have cropped up recently.

-With Carl and Rick now out on their own, things will be pretty bleak when the show returns on February 9. “We started the season pretty hopeful and pretty optimistic,” executive producer Robert Kirkman told TV Guide. “We‘ll open our last half of the season pretty bleak and we’ll move them to something a little more hopeful by the end.”

-The cliff hanger ending indicated that Rick’s injuries suffered during the prison battle will take a lot of care from Carl. From the looks of things, they didn’t have any medical supplies with them when they fled the battle.

-The final eight episodes are “very intense,” Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. “Not only have these people lost Hershel, they lost the prison, but they also lost each other,” Kirkman said. “They’re out on their own, they’re in different groups. There’s going to be a lot going on with these different people as they try to survive in the next half of the season.”

-Carol is expected to return at some point, according to Kirkman, though it’s unclear when, so far. Also, it’s rumored that she will meet up with Tyreese, who doesn’t know that she killed Karen and David.

-Three new characters will be introduced. “Our characters have split up. The Prison really has been completely overrun and destroyed this time,” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd told Zap2It. “So we‘ll be with them on the road and on the run. They’re bound to encounter new people, and certainly some of the people they’ll encounter include Abraham, Eugene and Rosita.”

-The Governor is actually dead. “That was a head shot!” said Hurd. “Lilly shot him”
