CINCINNATI, Ohio—Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company was greeted with a full house for the last performance at Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center for the Arts, on Feb. 4. Jozsef Parragh and his wife, Beatrice, were very impressed with the Shen Yun dancers’ dedication, reflected in the quality of their dancing and team work.
New York-based Shen Yun has a mission to revitalize 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese and traditional ethnic dance, as well as through original music, and world renowned soloists.
Mr. Parragh, a dance teacher with 30 years of experience in ballroom dancing in both Europe and the United Sates, stated that the dancing was “very, very high quality and the team work was beautiful.”
The training required must be driven by passion, Mrs. Parragh believed, “otherwise the dancers would not be able to do such a great job.”
“It’s so amazing how the formations are so perfectly orchestrated,” she said.
“It must be a passion and love for dance and for everything they do,” Mrs. Parragh expressed. “I am happy to see people who do that.”
This dedication, Mrs. Parragh thought, might inspire others to just do something with their own life a little bit differently.
The performance “is totally different than what you are used to seeing in the United States and also Europe,” Mr. Parragh said.
“A performance by Shen Yun is a presentation of traditional Chinese culture as it once was: a study in grace, wisdom, and the virtues distilled from the five millennia of Chinese civilization,” according to the company’s website.
Mr. Parragh was impressed with the traditional virtues of traditional Chinese culture, particularly understanding good and bad choices.
In speaking of the performance’s overall theme, he said it was choice. Furthermore, he felt that this theme was wonderful: “what they tried to show us is just beautiful.”
“They don’t tell us which is the bad and the good, but they show us a very good example of what to follow.”
