The Sound of Music cast reunion on the Oprah Winfrey show, first aired in October, was shown again Monday, Dec. 27, as it was one of the most watched episodes of the show’s final season.

The reunion celebrated the film’s 45th anniversary.

It was also the first time Christopher Plummer had been with the cast since the Oscar-winning film opened in 1965.

Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, and all seven of the now grown-up Von Trapp children talked with Oprah about their lives and nostalgia over the making of the film.

Andrews commented on her voice in the early days, before she lost it in 1997 from vocal chord surgery.

“I was a real child prodigy,” she said. “I had like four octaves, and I could sing cadenzas like crazy. When I went up really high, the dogs from miles around would howl.”

According to Oprah’s website, the actors originally spent about nine months together while shooting, and forged a special bond.

“There’s no DNA here, but they’re a special kind of family,” said Heather Menzies, who played Louisa in the film.
