Inspired by the debut of Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D movie inspired by F. Scott Fitgerald’s book, “The Great Gatsby,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, I created my newest collection, “The New Gatsby.”

1920s style exuded elegance and class. I created “The New Gatsby” shoot with modern bobs, thick fringes, soft curls, deep waves, and updated accessories which all pay homage to the vintage flapper fashion, while still being wearable for the modern woman.

Much research led me to recreate clean, suave looks from the past with a modern edge, which can be easily translated into everyday hair.

For men, short, slick styles with slight nuances of waves can enhance a look for work or a night on the town. Crop styles neatly around the perimeter, leaving the top long enough for a tousle of waves.

For women, pair strong makeup with a sleek bob or add a bold headband to any hairstyle to bring ‘20s glamour into 2013. Go really retro with the addition of fingerwaves and pincurls or modernize the shape with a heavy fringe.
