The Hobbit 3, officially known as “The Battle of the Five Armies,” hasn’t had a trailer released yet but it should be coming soon.

But it appears that the trailer will be coming out soon.

A source who tipped off the blog One Ring about the trailers for the previous two Hobbit films hasn’t heard anything about the “Five Armies” trailer yet, but the blog says that the trailer could come out as soon as July 20.

That said, the blog notes that it’s a guess based upon a number of factors, including waiver guidelines, VFX work, and other information.

Not a lot of spoilers have come out for the movie, though animation supervisor Dave Clayton recently detailed how Smaug will go about decimating Lake Town.

““You know, in Desolation of Smaug it was more his personality, his paranoia...This time around he is going to be a killing machine in Lake Town,” he told IGN.

He also said that the film would start with Smaug shooting fire throughout the town.

“We’re going to see some really cool stuff of him just destroying the place,” he said. “It’s going to be a really exciting opening sequence.”

He called it an “epic battle.”

Clayton said that he wasn’t revealing spoilers because anyone who had read the book would know “how it’s all going to go down.”

It was also pointed out by Contact Music that Gandalf going to Dol Guldur in the second Hobbit film wasn’t in the book, but was a nice addition and neatly introduced Sauron.

“It also means that we might get some Extra Evil Sauron time in [Hobbit 3],” it said. “While Sauron should be defeated by the White Council, expect a flaming eye to make an appearance near the end. Isn’t continuity exciting?”
