Robin Williams Returns to His Roots

 


Robin Williams will return to HBO this December in a standup comedy special—his first in seven years. The comedian is currently taking his act across the country and this show will feature the Washington performance of his “Weapons of Self-Destruction” tour. The special will air in December.

Kelly Preston to Discuss Recent Loss

Actress and wife of John Travolta, Kelly Preston, is expected to discuss publicly the loss of her son at the upcoming California Governor’s Conference for Women. The conference, which will take place in October, has slated Preston as a member of the “Grief & Resilience Panel.” The conference will be hosted by California First Lady Maria Shriver. Other attendees will include Elizabeth Edwards, Susan St. James, Madeleine Albright, Kate Gosselin, and Katie Couric.

Beckinsale Awarded Libel Settlement

Actress Kate Beckinsale has received an apology and $32,000 in damages from “The Daily Express,” for the tabloid’s false claims. The paper had fabricated a story that the actress had been fired from the movie “Barbarella” (a remake of the 1968 film) and alleged that her career “was in decline.”

Brooke Shields Returns to the Big Screen

Brooke Sheilds has been cast in “Furry Vengeance,” a live-action family film that stars Brendan Fraser. This will mark the first appearance in a feature film in a decade for Shields who has focused her career most recently on television and stage. The actress will play Fraser’s wife. Other members of the cast include Dick Van Dyke, Ken Jeong, and Samantha Bee.

City Discloses Cost of Jackson Memorial

Los Angeles officials have revealed that Tuesday’s public memorial service for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center cost the city $1.4 million. A significant portion of the city’s expenses went to overtime pay for police officers securing the venue and other areas that attracted crowds. The City is requesting public donations through a newly created web page to help cover the expenditure.
