Paula Abdul Will Not Return to ‘Idol’
Pop star and judge for eight years on America’s most watched television series, Paula Abdul decided not to return to American Idol according to a message she sent on micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday night. Last year saw a change in the show’s format, with the addition of fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, who has been asked to return as a judge next year. Abdul gave thanks to her fans for their support on her Twitter posting, which is followed by 1 million viewers.
Beyonce, ZZ Top, Others to Perform for Formula One
Formula One Racing is debuting its first “F1 Rocks” concert in Singapore next month over its nighttime grand prix weekend. Artists such as Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas, ZZ Top, and Simple Minds will add musical entertainment to the sports racing event. Concert creator Paul Morrison said in a statement, “The world’s only F1 night race just got bigger, faster, and louder.”
Hugh Jackman Under the Big Top
Actor Hugh Jackman will both star in and co-produce the upcoming musical, The Greatest Showman on Earth, a Twentieth Century Fox film about the infamous circus creator P.T. Barnum, according to Variety. Jackman, who has a passion for musicals, is reportedly also working on remaking the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, Carousel. The actor will take the Broadway stage for a limited engagement in the play, A Steady Rain, beginning this month, as casting for Showman continues.
MTV Video Music Award Nominees Announced
This year’s VMA nominations were announced on Wednesday, highlighting the biggest names in popular music. The announcement offered few surprises and included Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Britney Spears, and Coldplay. MTV playfully gives a nod to its history with the category, “Best Video (That Should Have Won A Moonman).” Nominees in this category include The Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, U2, and others. The VMA’s will air on the cable network on September 13.
Heidi Klum Discusses Post-Pregnancy Fitness
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Heidi Klum revealed she has “never done diets” to rid herself of the baby weight. The model, who is expecting her fourth child in the fall, says “I never really put a lot of pressure on myself, but for me personally, I feel like it is always better to get into shape immediately. I feel like if I drag it out too long, I’m not going to do it.” Klum is currently promoting the new season of her show, “Project Runway,” which begins August 20 on Lifetime.
Alyssa Milano Coming to ABC
ABC has ordered 13 episodes of the comedy, “Romantically Challenged,” starring Alyssa Milano. The show explores the relationship of a thirty-something man with his new girlfriend (Milano) and best friend. The show is slated to air mid-season.
