Thanksgiving is the time to be thankful, and more Americans say they are more thankful this year compared to years past.

More than 80 percent of Americans said that they are either as thankful or more thankful than previous years for this Thanksgiving, according to a recent Harris Poll conducted in October of more than 3,000 adults in the US.

Two out of every five respondents said that they had more to be thankful for, while about the same number said they have as much as to be thankful for.

The survey also found that young Americans and college grads were more thankful than older Americans and those who did not attend college, respectfully.

However, while a large majority of Americans are thankful for their families (86 percent) and the health of their loved ones (86 percent), not a lot of people are thankful for the current US economy (23 percent).

But because of the economic atmosphere, more Americans are thankful for things such as their personal economic situation (66 percent) and work status (65 percent).

“It may be that through the economic crisis and the emergence of a possible ‘new normal’, Americans have come to be more appreciative of what they have, regardless if it’s less than ideal, or less than it once was,” a Harris Poll press statement read.
