A Texas student enrolled in an overseas study program fell to her death while she was in Burma, known as Myanmar, according to officials.

Kassandra “Kassie” Braun, of Fishers, Indiana, fell Tuesday, Nov. 7, while she was trying to watch a sunset in Bagan, the Arab News reported.

Braun was traveling on her own when she plunged.

“She was severely injured and died in the ambulance on the way to Mandalay General Hospital,” the Semester at Sea overseas program said in a statement.

Her parents released a statement on her death via Semester at Sea.

“They are still waiting for further details about what happened but would like everyone to know that Kassie was having the time of her life on Semester at Sea and was living her dream,” the statement said. “She was so full of life and love, gave so much to so many.”

St. Edward’s University also issued a statement on her death.

“We are deeply saddened to share with the St. Edward’s community that junior, SEU student Kassandra Braun, passed away during a tragic accident while studying abroad with Semester at Sea. Kassie was originally from McCordsdville, Indiana, and majoring in communication. Kassie attended Cathedral High School, a Holy Cross school in Indianapolis before joining the St. Edward’s University community as a Moreau Scholar,” the statement reads.
