Amid record rainfall downpours and floods across Southeast Texas, anyone who is not a part of a professional rescue group has been told to stay outside of the flood zone.

Just yesterday on Sunday, Aug. 27, the National Weather Service released a dire warning about flooding in Houston, Texas.

“This event is unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced. Follow orders from officials to ensure safety. #Harvey,” the NWS tweeted Sunday.

But one man is making headlines for breaking that rule.

The man captured the hearts of many Americans and he shows true Texas spirit. He was seen loading up a boat under what seems to be a flooded freeway bridge.

In video footage posted on Sunday on Twitter, a local reporter is seen asking the man where he was from and what he planned to do.

The reporter asks, “You guys just jumping in to help out?”

“Yessir,” the man said, he is from Texas City.

Then the reporter asks what the man he is going to do next.

“I’m gonna try to save some lives” the man replied.

The video can be seen here:

The twitter post has gone viral, garnering over 9,075 retweets and over 21,224 likes. It was captioned with: “GOING TO SAVE SOME LIVES' Heroes converging in #Houston.” Twitter comments call the man a true hero and what America is all about.

There have been multiple reports of bravery and selflessness coming out of Houston.

Video footage shows another man in Houston, out of goodness of his heart, helping a stranger trapped in the flooding waters. He is clearly not a part of any rescue group or operation, just simply helping a stranger in need.

The video posted on Twitter is captioned with: “A rescue on live TV. This guy doesn’t appear to be a first responder...just a regular person, stepping in, and saving 3 people.”

Video footage below shows selfless volunteers saving a horse from Cypress Creek in Houston.
