A 10-year-old boy in Texas crawled a quarter of a mile home after a driver crushed his leg with a car before fleeing the scene of the accident.
Caden Walsh was walking home from Forest North Elementary School in Austin when a driver swerved onto the sidewalk and struck him.
The driver then maneuvered the SUV back onto the road and fled.
Walsh was left disoriented and injured.
Walsh didn’t just lay down, though.
He began crawling home and eventually made it the quarter of a mile.
His dad couldn’t believe it when he first saw his son.
Walsh’s parents rushed him to the hospital and he’s now recovering.
“He could have been dead on the side of the road because somebody just took off, because they didn’t care enough to even go check on him, they just took off, what kind of person does that?” wondered Walsh’s mother, Heather Brady, reported KXAN.
She and authorities are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
It’s illegal to leave the scene of an accident like the driver did.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
