Terrence Howard, the actor, is accused of beating his ex-wife, according to a report on Monday

TMZ reported that Howard beat Michelle Ghent while they were on a trip to Costa Rica. The beating took place after an argument, sources told the website.

Howard said that Ghent hit him with pepper spray or mace. She also apparently hit his daughter and another family member.

But TMZ, citing its sources, said that Howard made up a story about mace. However, other sources said that Ghent is lying about getting beat.

Ghent is now going to court to get a restraining order against him, the website said.

Howard, 44, has starred in a number of films since the 1990s, including “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “Hustle & Flow,” “Get Rich or Die Tryin,'” and “Iron Man.”

Recent reports said that Howard will join the Fox event series, “Wayward Pines.”
