The Daily Telegraph confirmed Monday afternoon that its Twitter account was hacked after the Syrian Electronic Army claimed responsibility.

“We are aware that some of our accounts have been compromised and are working to resolve the issue. Many thanks for your patience,” the newspaper wrote  in a tweet.

The Syrian Electronic Army--a pro-regime group claiming hacks on accounts belonging to The Associated Press, E! Online, the Financial Times--was featured in several posts.

One tweet said that the “Syrian Electronic Army Was Here.”

"The Syrian Arab Army discovers a Zionist vehicle in Qusayr, exposing the Israeli regime in the proxy war against Syria,” said another.

The group also hacked The Onion’s Twitter feed, prompting an article from the satirical news site that said the “Syrian Electronic Army Has A Little Fun Before Inevitable Upcoming Deaths At Hands Of Rebels.”
