Two teenage black girls were arrested on hate crime charges for an assault against a white woman in New York City, officials announced Tuesday.

Three teens, who have been sought since the alleged incident earlier this month, attacked a 57-year-old woman while making statements against white people, said the New York City Police Department.

“Thanks to a tip, Detectives followed up and arrested 2 juveniles regarding this anti-white assault that occurred on the Q53 bus on July 9th. There is 1 outstanding perpetrator,” said the NYPD Hate Crimes division on Twitter.

The girls who were arrested are aged 15 and 16, said another NYPD account. They were charged with assault and aggravated harassment as a hate crime for hitting a woman in the head during the incident, officials said.

An NYPD spokesperson told WCBS-TV that one of the girls yelled, “I hate white people ... I hate the way they talk” before the woman was struck in the head with an unknown object. Officials told other media that the woman was hospitalized and received three staples on her head.

The names of the girls who were arrested were not released because they are juveniles.

The victim was identified by the New York Post as Jill LeCroix, who told the paper that she has three bi-racial children. The woman said that one of the girls with green hair said she hates white people and accused her of voting for former President Donald Trump.

“Before they hit me, the girl with the green hair said, ‘You probably like Trump! Don’t you?’ LeCroix said on July 17. ”I said, ‘I love him.’ I didn’t see which one hit me first.”

“The one with the green hair, she was saying she hates white people, the way they talk, hates white skin, the way their skin cracks. Saying she was gangsta,” LeCroix added to the NY Post. “I was the only white person on the bus. By the time we started passing St. John’s Cemetery on Woodhaven, she started in on me, saying, ‘That’s where I’m going to bury you!’”

She added: “She had a bag from Bath and Body Works, and she took out a scrub and said she was going to beat me with it. It was tangerine. She said, ‘You’re going to get what you deserve! All white people are going to get what they deserve.’ It was crazy.”

Anyone with information about the incident can call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
