A 15-year-old football player in Long Island, New York, died after suffering an injury during practice.

Suffolk County police said that the player—an 11th-grader—died during practice at Sachem East High School at 8:30 a.m., according to ABC7.

He was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.

WNBC reported that he might have slipped and hit his head on a pole or a log during a drill where players carry the pole or a log on their shoulders.

According to News12, “Three to five student athletes were carrying a log when the accident happened. It is not clear exactly what took place.”

No other details have been released.

The identity of the teen wasn’t given to the press.
