A teenager is fighting for life after being dragged from a car by a group of men and repeatedly shot in Sydney’s southwest.

Police say the 19-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg following the late night attack at Sefton on Oct 2.

They say he was behind the wheel of his car in Anderson Lane, near Helen Street when a number of men approached, smashing a window as they pulled him from the vehicle and shot him.

A 21-year-old man in the passenger’s seat who suffered a minor injury to his eye from the smashed glass was helping detectives on Saturday with their inquiries.

A white hatchback was seen leaving the area soon after the shooting.

Police are calling for anyone in the vicinity of Anderson Lane, Helen Street, Wellington Road or Sefton Railway Station around 11.45pm to contact them.
