The Philadelphia Soul, an Arena Football League team, extended an offer to recently released quarterback Tim Tebow.

“I haven’t heard back from him and I’m not going to push it,” said Ron Jaworski, one of the owners of the team, told the Philadelphia Daily News. “If he decides he wants to play Arena Football, we'll make a spot for him.”

Jaworski and coach Clint Dolezel sent Tebow, who was released by the New York Jets a few weeks ago, several plays they would use with him.

“One [criticism] of Tebow is that he is slow and methodical,” Jaworski told the paper. “He would be forced to quicken it up in this league and it would be good training for him. You can learn a lot in this league. It’s about processing information and getting the ball out . . . or you get whacked.”

The offer comes days after a White House petition was set up, asking for the Jacksonville Jaguars to sign Tebow. The petition was later taken down from the site.

The Jaguars have reportedly said the team is not looking to sign Tebow, who was named the most influential athlete by Forbes magazine in 2012.

In late April, the former Lingerie League, which is now called the Legends Football League, offered Tebow a job as a quarterbacks coach.

“Now that it appears Mr. Tim Tebow’s career in the National Football League may be coming to an end, we at Legends Football League would like to extend him an offer to become our Quarterbacks Coach nationally,” LFL President Mitchell Mortaza said.
