Tebow petition removed: The White House has removed a petition from Jacksonville Jaguars fans to get recently released quarterback Tim Tebow signed amid free agency.
Fox News reported that the petition, which was started in late April, was taken down on Monday after reports emerged of its existence.
The White House said that “the petition you are trying to access has been removed from the site under our Moderation Policy because it is in violation of our Terms of Participation.”
Before it was taken down, the petition said that the Jaguars need to “stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign Tim Tebow.”
“Jacksonville Jaguars fans want the team to sign recently released QB Tim Tebow. However, rookie general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars David Caldwell is blocking this from happening. If the Jaguars sign & START Tebow, home games will be sold out, sales will spike, the team will win and the fans will be happy,” it said.
Tebow was released by the New York Jets more than a week ago after the team acquired quarterback Geno Smith in the draft.
The Jaguars have reportedly said the team is not interested in pursuing Tebow, who was named by Forbes on Monday as the most influential athlete in 2012.
Tebow played for the Florida Gators football team while in college, winning a Heisman Trophy as a sophomore in 2008.
In 2011, he took the Denver Broncos the playoffs before winning a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team was eliminated by the New England Patriots in the next round.
