A woman from Pennsylvania fell off a rooftop balcony and died because she was laughing too hard, according to family members.

Sharon Regoli Ciferno, 50, a teacher at Charles A. Huston Middle School, was visiting a friend in Mexico when she sat on a deck, her brother told PennLive.

“She started laughing very hard and when she put her head back she lost her balance and fell back,” her brother, David Regoli, was quoted as saying. “She suffered multiple injuries to her body and brain.”

He said that alcohol wasn’t a factor in her death.

“She passed about an hour ago from the horrific trauma from her fall. My family is devastated and heart broken. Please keep us all in your prayers,” he wrote on Facebook.

“She died very peacefully with her husband John and her children as well as my parents and me holding her hands and praying over her. Now we need prayers of strength to come to grips with our loss. Through her generous gift of life, at least 5 people will have the opportunity to live on with some of her organs.”

According to PennLive, she was transported to a hospital and later died.

Huston Middle School Principal Brian Ferra told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that her death will leave a void at the school. “She wore her heart on her sleeve,” Ferra said. “She would do anything for anyone.”

She leaves behind a husband and two children.
