A number of states are offering a tax free weekend in August, including New York, New Jersey, and South Carolina.

States have different weekends for the tax free shopping, as well as different tax-free items.

Check out detailed information below for states in alphabetical order. Simply search for a certain state to jump down the list.

Alabama

Dates: August 1 through August 3

Clothing — $100 or less, per article of clothing. Includes pants, belts, and boots.

Computers, computer software, school computer supplies — Single purchase of $750 or less

School supplies, school manuals — $50 or less per item. Includes binders, crayons, rulers.

Books — $30 or less per book.

Arkansas 

Dates: August 2 through August 3

Clothing — Less than $100 per item

Clothing accessories and equipment — Less than $50 per item

School supplies, school manuals

Connecticut

Dates: August 17 through August 23

Clothing or footwear — Less than $300 per item. 

Florida

Dates: August 1 through August 3

Clothing — $100 or less per item

Personal computers and some accessories — $750 or less per item

School supplies — $15 or less per item

Georgia

Dates: August 1 through August 2

Clothing — $100 or less per item

Computers, computer software, computer components — $1,000 or less per item

School supplies — $20 or less per item

Iowa

Dates: August 1 through August 2

Clothing and footwear — Less than $100 per item

Maryland

Dates: August 10 through August 16

Clothing and footwear — $100 or less per item

Missouri

Dates: August 1 through August 3

Clothing — $100 or less per item
School supplies — $50 or less per item
Computer software — $350 or less per item
Personal computers — $3,500 or less per item
Computer peripheral devices — $3,500 or less per item

New Mexico

Dates: August 1 through August 3

Oklahoma

Tennessee
