Taste of the Danforth, Canada’s largest street festival, will be held at GreekTown on Danforth over the upcoming weekend.

Besides all the great food from the Greek restaurants in the area, the festival features music, comedy performances, and contests with lots of prizes.

This year’s festival also has a special theme.

“This year is different because it is ‘Powered by the Immortals,’ which is a movie that is coming out Nov. 11, 2011 (11-11-11),” says Howard Lichtman, a spokesperson with the Taste of Danforth.

“It is an epic story, about a group of Greek gods who are the Immortals, and the earth being saved by a human hero.”

Lichtman says they will feature an “immortal battle” with professional sword fighters in Greek armour on one of the stages.

The festival will run from Friday, Aug. 5, to Sunday, Aug. 7.
