Taste of DC, perhaps the biggest food event in the mid-Atlantic is on—rain or shine. On Oct. 12 and 13, thousands are expected to flock to Pennsylvania Avenue to savor food from close to 70 DC restaurants, enjoy live bands, chili and burger eating contests, and beer and wine tasting.

It is a fun-filled family event occupying 9th through 14th streets.

You can find just about any kind of cuisine you wish to try whether it is a kabob, sushi, barbeque, Thai food, seafood, Latin, Cajun or Irish cuisine, juices, cookies and other desserts. It is all in one spot. Each vendor offers at least one sample item priced between $1 and $3.

There will be headliners at the 11th Street Music Stage, and the Stella Artois Beer Garden will take over 12th street with over 50 beer samples each for a few dollars. Their exhibit also includes 100 wine samples on the Wine Walk nearby. Taste of DC also incorporates a Family-Zone to make sure there is fun for all ages.

But this is not just an indulgence; there is an education to be had. You can learn how to cook something new by watching experienced chefs provide culinary demonstrations. And you get a taste of DC culture with samples from a variety of ethnic groups.

Participants will also receive a virtual goody bag, with coupon discounts from your favorite restaurants and event sponsors.
