Mr Hayes and Mr Murray believe the idea will “help get Ireland’s struggling economy back on track.”
Nigel Murray, speaking to The Epoch Times about TalantTank.ie, said “It is not a job or recruitment website, it is a platform for individuals to showcase their talents to perspective employers.”
The role of the website is that of a notice board, but with an employment theme. It allows job seekers to present their qualifications and advertise their willingness to work for free for a short period to demonstrate their abilities. Employers in return have access to highly skilled individuals for free for a limited number of hours per week.
According to Mr Murray “Skilled, talented individuals just want an opportunity to show what they can do, they know the job, have done it for years and have done it well. Some are even prepared to offer their talents and skills a few hours per days for free, if it means getting a foot in the door, keeping professionally active and possibly, just possibly, a prospect of a full-time position.”
According to the founders of TalentTank.ie, they identified a build up of talented and experienced people in the Irish labour market who were suddenly out of work. More often than not, these same individuals had never found themselves in such a situation. They wanted and needed to work because they always had a job. Hence Talent Tank was born.
Among the professionals already registered with TalentTank.ie to provide services free of charge are Accountants, Engineers, Architects, Sales and Marketing Consultants, Graphic and Web Designers, IT Consultants, Electricians, and Hotel and Catering workers.
So how does Talent Tank make money?
It is free for an individual to register on the site and it is free for employers to contact prospective employees, but employers need to pay a fee of 15 Euro per month to view curriculum vitaes.
