City Hall honors fallen police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu with a moment of silence at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, marking the instant at which the officers were shot on a Brooklyn street corner. Mayor Bill de Blasio remarked, as he has repeatedly, that the city must keep working through the pain. “It feels tremendously painful right now,” said de Blasio. “But it’s always darkest before the dawn.”
At 9 p.m., city landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and One World Trade Center, were expected to dim their lights to honor the NYPD officers.
