TAINAN, Taiwan—Tainan City Mayor Mr. Qingde Lai went to Tainan Municipal Cultural Center on the evening of March 10, 2012 to attend Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s fifth performance in Tainan this year. After watching the performance, Mr. Lai said, “It’s a very relaxing, joyful, marvelous, and fabulous performance!”
Mayor Lai, who has watched Shen Yun’s performance several times, said that Shen Yun’s programs were different every year, yet they were always very wonderful and would surprise and leave us in awe.
Further praising Shen Yun’s performance, he noted that it contained “deep culture, wonderful arts, and consisted of various levels of art.”
Among all the dance programs, he mentioned the Snowflakes Welcoming Spring, as the actor’s dancing skills, postures, costumes, and backdrops were very exquisite and beautiful.
Mr. Lai also loved the ethnic dances and cultures presented by Shen Yun, he mentioned that the Dance of the Qiang People was one that also stood out.
Mayor Lai said that the Qing dance (The Qing Imperial Guards) was delicate and graceful, as its style and flavor were very unique. In addition, he loved the Taiwanese Amei dance (In the Mountains) very much. “The Taiwanese Amei dance and the Qing dance were very wonderful and gorgeous!” he praised.
Qingde Lai once served as the head of the Asian sub-coalition, Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG). As to Shen Yun’s program depicting the touching story about Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted yet still remained steadfast in their belief, he said that he especially admired them.
“I have always supported Falun Gong. I think it’s very good to use dancing to promote the Falun Gong’s principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance,” he emphasized.
In the end Mayor Lai was very grateful to Shen Yun Performing Arts for coming to Tainan again. “As a mayor, I sincerely welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts’ performance in Tainan, as it allowed our residents of Tainan City to experience such a wonderful performance.”
