Tado Jimenez Dead: Comedian Arvin Jimenez Dies, Joked About Death Day Earlier; ‘RIP’ Condolences on Twitter

Arvin “Tado” Jimenez was among 14 people who died in a bus crash in Mountain province in the Philippines on Friday, it was reported. He was 39.

Jimenez joked about his death just a day earlier, ABS-CBN reported.

Jimenez posted on his Instagram account on Thursday, saying he was on the bus. “North o South.. cemetery,” the caption reads. He was going to Bontoc for a project called the “40 Mountains Project.”

Jimenez, two foreigners--a Dutch national and Canadian--and 11 others died, Inter Aksyon reported. A third foreigner was among the 23 who were critically wounded.

Maj. Emmanuel Garcia, commander of the 1st Civil Relations Group of the Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines said those who were killed were Anna Van Deven from The Netherlands and Alex Laring from Canada.

The bus was heading from Sampaloc terminal in Manila.

Marcial Bernard Jr., Natividad Ngawa, and Ana Alaba were identified as those who were also killed, The Philippine Star reported.

Supt. Ramir Saculles, the Mountain Province deputy police director, told the Star that most of the recovered bodies were mutilated due to the impact of the crash.

Saculles said there’s a possibility that the driver of the bus fell asleep at the wheel. He also mentioned that there may have been mechanical problems with the bus.

Among the Filipinos killed were musician David Sicam of band Kinaiya and visual artist Gerard Baja, reported GMA.

“He was the glue who held our band together and kept everyone’s egos in check,” said musician Diwa de Leon of Sicam. “He was a humble person whose priorities were family, friends, and music. But he also found time to go on adventures in the mountains.”

Jimenez became famous in 2001 when he starred in “Strangebrew” on UNTV. Later, he appeared in a number of other TV shows.

On Twitter, a large number of users offered their condolences to Jimenez.

“We extend our condolences to the Family and Friends of Arvin “Tado” Jimenez, comedian/host, DJ and a PUP Alumnus,” wrote one. 

“RIP Arvin “Tado” Jimenez. May God bless your soul,” added another.
