The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a young girl in El Sobrante on Sept. 11.
Sheriff’s officials said the attempted kidnapping occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 in the 3600 block of San Pablo Dam Road. A 12-year-old girl was sitting on a bench when an older man sat next to her and allegedly offered her money to leave with him.
According to the sheriff’s office, the girl walked away and a bystander called authorities.
The suspect is described as a black man between 45 and 55 years old with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded Gap sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. He was seen driving a white sedan.
