Police arrested David James Bamber, 27, on August 13 after receiving reports alleging he was erratically threatening a woman with a handgun the previous day.
After the report was made, Milpitas Police was unable to find the man who they believed had left Milpitas by that time.
The next day an officer approached Bamber, a convicted felon, and found that he was in possession of a loaded handgun.
Bamber was booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of criminal threats, carrying a loaded firearm, brandishing a handgun and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was also placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold for a mental health evaluation.
