SAN MARINO, Calif.—A man who police said allegedly attempted to burglarize an elementary school in San Marino, located in northern Los Angeles County, is in custody Sept. 8.
Officers from the San Marino Police Department responded at 4:03 a.m. Sept. 7 to an audible alarm call for service at Carver Elementary School, located at 3100 Huntington Drive. Upon their arrival, officers noticed a suspect attempting to open the teacher’s lounge door located on the east side of the campus, said Cpl. Juan Salcido.
Officers approached the suspect—who police identified as Jose Luis Chamorro of Los Angeles—and when they searched him they found multiple burglary tools and a membership card not issued in his name, Salcido said.
Video surveillance showed Chamorro on school property at the time of the attempted burglary and as officers searched the school grounds they did not find any additional suspects or any damage to school property.
No items from the school were reported missing, said Salcido.
Chamorro was booked at the Pasadena City Jail.
