Police have arrested a suspect in separate shootings in Mississauga and Milton, Ont., with one officer reportedly shot dead and two other victims taken to hospital.

“Suspect has been located and is in police custody. 1 person has been pronounced deceased at the scene and 2 others have been transported to hospital,” Halton Regional Police said on Twitter at roughly 4:30 p.m. EDT.

The deceased was reportedly a Toronto police officer shot dead on the scene in Mississauga, Ont.

Peel Regional Police reported a shooting at about 3:00 p.m. EDT, in the area between Argentia Road and Winston Churchill Boulevard in Mississauga, saying one person had been shot and was taken to a trauma centre.
In an update roughly 15 minutes later, police said another victim was found shot, and that the suspect had fled a stolen car.
“We are actively looking for a black jeep Cherokee with licence plate #CLMZ 905,” the police said in an update posted at around 3:21 p.m. EDT.

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build. A photo of the suspect, provided by police, shows him wearing all black with a yellow construction vest on top.

The police said the suspect was “armed and dangerous.”

Temporary road closures were imposed in some areas in Ontario as the police conducted the manhunt.
