Susan Boyle was brought to tears by a group of rowdy teenagers on a recent train journey in Scotland, according to reports.
The 49-year-old Britain’s Got Talent star was traveling by herself on a train to West Lothian in Scotland when the incident occurred. Boyle was minding her own business when a group of youths began mocking the British singer, reported British newspaper The Sun.
“I don’t normally get angry with people. I’m ashamed of you all - shut up. I’m warning you, it’s not funny,” said the down-to-earth superstar to her tormentors, a passenger told The Sun.
Ms. Boyle was in tears while some continued to laugh at her. She turned to the people who were sitting opposite to her and told them off, according to the paper.
“Susan certainly put them in their place - and good for her. It can’t be easy dealing with the fame she has but she handled it well,” a passenger told The Sun.
Last year’s Boyle debut album “I Dreamed a Dream” became the biggest selling album in the world for 2009, selling 9 million copies worldwide in only six weeks of sales.
Boyle’s plain appearance on stage did not give audiences a strong first impression, but her powerful voice brought her standing ovation during the talent show. Her rendition of the songs “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Cry Me a River” have been watched more than 100 million times online and various media interviews led to international fame.
