Susan Boyle to Make Appearance in Musical
Susan Boyle, the Scottish songstress who took television audiences by surprise with her heart-tugging performance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, will join the cast of the U.K. touring musical I Dreamed A Dream in a cameo appearance.
The play, which portrays the story of Boyle’s life, will launch in the U.K. on March 23, 2012, at the Theatre Royal Newcastle and will likely branch into global productions, including the U.S., in 2013. Scottish actress Elaine C. Smith will star as Boyle in the theater production.

Robert Downey Jr. Honored With Award
Two-time Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr. was the honored recipient at the 25th American Cinematheque Award (ACA), which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills this past week.
The award honors “an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry who is fully engaged in his or her work and is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion pictures” said the ACA in a press release.
Downey was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque Board of Directors selection committee, according to the press release. Downey’s talent and wide range has driven him to portray such varied roles as Charlie Chaplin, iconic sleuth Sherlock Holmes, and an action hero in the film Iron Man.
Giuliana Rancic Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
E! television host Giuliana Rancic revealed on NBC’s The Today Show on Monday that she is battling breast cancer. “Through my attempt to get pregnant through IVF, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It’s been a shock,” she said.
Rancic, who also stars in a reality program with her husband and former winner of The Apprentice Bill Rancic, shared her gratitude for her husband’s support. “Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry, he doesn’t say, ‘Hey, look at that person who’s worse off than you are.’ He just lets me feel what I’m feeling.”
The E! Network, in a statement, offered her “love and support” and said, “Giuliana has chosen to talk about her breast cancer on E! News tonight prior to her lumpectomy later this week. We are grateful that thanks to early detection, Giuliana is expected to have a swift and complete recovery.”
