A prom photo that shows a group of guys dressed up as various superheroes with their dates unveiling who the superhero is has gone viral.
However, a prominent video game director, David Jaffe, lashed out that the photo, saying that it was “sexist.”
As a comicGeek,I so want 2 love this prom picture.But it’s so grossly unaware of how sexist it is that I just can’t. pic.twitter.com/n0H4Ni13Mg

When someone asked what negative stereotype it portrays, he responded.
.@MShaneman The men as heroes, the women as subserviant. Not a single female hero. The men serious/in thought, the women only all smiles.

“The men as heroes, the women as subserviant. Not a single female hero. The men serious/in thought, the women only all smiles,” he said.
@davidscottjaffe @MShaneman What about the goofy smile on Cap’s face?Maybe the girls were into it, maybe they enjoyed it,how would we know?

Then Jaffe, the video game director for “God of War,” compared it to the KKK.
@LAME_STREET @MShaneman I’d imagine the Klan was ‘into it’ when they lynched people. Doesn’t make the act any less racist/horrific.

@davidscottjaffe @LAME_STREET @MShaneman >prom photos are comparable to lynching
what a story mark

The photo was taken by Johnny Bolinger of BN Focus Photography.
Some users then sounded off, saying that people get too easily offended.
I think it´s safe to say that David Jaffe has lost his mind :S https://t.co/EjcevxXPXw #GamerGate #GamersUnite pic.twitter.com/86xGIa4ho7

Comparing a pic of kids having a good time to the KKK to push an agenda. https://t.co/ILPpSbCtq2

@davidscottjaffe @MShaneman
if you have to overanalyse something to get offended, why not just choose to be happy hahaha— dan (@dhmapplethorpe) May 8, 2016
.@davidscottjaffe @MShaneman It’s a shame those girls didn’t have you there to tell them what’s best for them.

@davidscottjaffe @MShaneman I’m so sorry none of these chicks felt like dressing up as super heroes to their prom. They should be ashamed!

@davidscottjaffe @MShaneman I know you’re mad that females still like masculine attributes and display it in feminine ways. Get over it.

The prom photo was taken by students who go to Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Arkansas, according to NBC.
Bollinger explained to Mashable his reasoning: “They posed, I snapped a photo and, well, you see what happened when I posted it later that night.”
The photo has since been shared more than 300,000 times on Facebook.
