The Sun News Network will not be carried on basic cable after the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission rejected its request.

In a statement on Thursday, the Canadian agency wrote that Sun News and several other services “were denied” because they did not successfully demonstrate “to the CRTC that they met the criteria for a mandatory distribution order.”

Other channels that were rejected include the Canadian Punjabi Network, Accents, Described Video Guide, Dolobox TV, and others.

According to News 1130, Sun News went on the air in April 2011. The station reported that executives with the channel said that no basic cable coverage would spell the end of it.
