Whether you work in a corporate finance office or an edgy advertising firm, dressing professionally for the hot summer is no easy task. Ditch the stuffy suit, but be careful not to expose too much skin. Mochi shows you how to transform summertime staples into sophisticated, office-appropriate outfits.

Add an element of feminine flair to your business attire with this peplum ensemble—keep it polished with a fitted pencil skirt to create shape, and elongate your body. Stand out from the crowd of black and white suit dresses by opting for a warm, neutral gray tone.

Stash away your murky layers in the closet because you won’t need those for a while. Mix a light fabric—silk chiffon or satin—with pastel hues for a fresh look. Experiment with complementary tones like mint green and yellow, coral red and green, or baby blue and yellow. As a golden rule, try not to mix more than four colors.

Dress up a pair of cropped white jeans with a neon pink top and an electric yellow clutch. For this look, don’t be afraid to be bold. White is versatile and goes with just about anything. Layer on a fluorescent blazer for a draft effect and always leave a scarf at work just in case your office likes to blast the AC.

Mochi tip: Always try on white jeans to make sure they’re not see-through. Also, while transparent bags are in this season, choose one with an interior pocket for some of your more personal items, like your wallet and keys. You don’t want to reveal all the contents in your purse.

Get playful with a pinstripe suit by picking polka dots, florals, or any pattern of your choice to shift away from the conservative, monochromatic suits. Keep it crisp with a minimalist blouse, but swap your basic nude pumps for summer flats and a matching satchel to make the navy-orange combo pop.
