NEW YORK—Be it subways or buses, MTA customers are rating service higher than last year. The results come from MTA’s own annual customer satisfaction survey, released on Oct. 24.

The majority, 84 percent, of subway riders were satisfied with the service; up 6 percent from last year.

The countdown clocks are having an effect. Riders in stations with countdown clocks rate service higher in 54 categories, compared to those in stations without. Satisfaction with local bus service is up to 70 percent, 8 percent higher than last year.

Meanwhile, LIRR and MetroNorth satisfaction ratings decreased compared to last year.
