DALLAS—Shen Yun Performing Arts dazzled the audience at the Winspear Opera House on Dec. 16 with the launch of its 2012 world tour.

Fashion stylist Priscilla Surereker said she was impressed with the costumes and coordination.

“It was beautiful, I think the whole scene, and the mood was captured beautifully, when they did the dances and they had the fans, it was incredible,” Ms. Surereker said.

The New York-based company’s dancers don elaborate handmade costumes from China’s different dynasties, regions, and ethnicities to reveal 5,000 years of civilization. An orchestra that includes Chinese and Western instruments accompanies the dances.

“I love music and I love going to shows and I love that it was a live orchestra,” Ms. Surereker said. “There were dances as well and a story, and I loved that it was a mixture of all this. It’s nice to see the culture and the stories.”

The orchestra is able to “seamlessly blend” both Western classical music and Chinese instruments together “to create one fresh, harmonious sound,” the company says on its website.

“Overall I would say that it was a beautiful performance and the level and art was beautiful,” Ms. Surereker said.

“I would definitely recommend it to anyone, I would love to see it again.”
