Washington Nationals v New York Mets

Stephen Strasburg (11-4) fanned 11 Mets over 7 innings Wednesday as Washington sent New York to their 11th loss in 12 games since the All-Star break with a 5–2 win at Citi Field.

With the loss the Mets have now been swept three times in their last four series and finish their homestand without a win.

“We’re going to get through it,” said Mets manager Terry Collins of the team’s slide. “You’re going to see a different team here in the next 10 days to two weeks. We’re going to go back and we’re going to do the things that got us here.”

Better hitting would be a start for the Mets who scored just two runs per game in the three-game set.

Next up for Terry Collins’ club is a four-game series in Arizona starting on Thursday with Matt Harvey set to make his big-league debut against Arizona’s Wade Miley.
