Sting has received a contract from the WWE but has not signed it as of Monday night, according to the latest update in the situation.

The former icon hasn’t signed the deal yet, wrestling website F4wonline reported.

The deal has been rumored since Sting left TNA in January, and Sting was rumored to appear in several WWE events since then including WrestleMania XXX.

Wrestling commentator Jim Ross posted on his blog about the deal, saying that he assumes the deal hasn’t been signed only because the WWE hasn’t announced it.

“Signing Sting would create positive news for WWE as he is a major star that WWE can monetize in a variety of ways if he comes aboard,” he wrote.

“I don’t see Sting even needing to wrestle to be a viable asset to WWE if he does sign with the company. If Sting did have one match it WWE it would need to be a long build, much anticipated one that has a significant payoff at a major event more specifically WM31.”

Sting was at one point said to be slated for an appearance during the Ultimate Warrior tribute on Monday Night Raw on April 14, but that appearance was never confirmed.
