Steven Houk has been identified as the Howard County police officer that was shot on Wednesday.
Houk was shot after a suspect he and several other officers approached opened fire on him and the officers.
Houk was airlifted to shock trauma, reported WUSA.
Houk has been with the Howard County Police Department for a little over two years.
Officials ahve commenced a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene.
The shooting happened on the 9500 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel, Maryland.
