SSI Recipients Will Get Automatic Pandemic Payments No Later Than May

The Social Security Administration announced that recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will automatically get their pandemic stimulus payments directly to their bank accounts.

SSI recipients will get the money directly to their bank accounts through direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, according to the agency. It added that they will receive the payments “no later than early May.”

“SSI recipients with no qualifying children do not need to take any action in order to receive their $1,200 economic impact payment. The payments will be automatic,” said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin. A news release from the agency said that recipients with qualifying children should use the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” website to enter their information to receive the payments.

And for SSI recipients who have children under the age of 17, they should go to the web portal and click on the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” button. They will have to provide their mailing address, full names, Social Security numbers, and bank account information.

“Recipients will receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If SSI beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, they will have to wait until later to receive their $500 per qualifying child,” according to the agency.

It came as the IRS and Treasury Department announced that a “Get My Payment” app and website was launched on Wednesday.
