Oklahoma confirmed on Saturday that the quarterback switch worked in its 24–17 victory over Auburn.

Quarterback John Mateer led the No. 11 Sooners (4–0) to victory over former Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold and the No. 22 Tigers (3–1). Arnold was once a prized recruit for Oklahoma as the program moved to the SEC in 2024 but he didn’t lead the Sooners to SEC contention as a sophomore.
