Team USA won silver, which means that celebrated swimmer Katie Ledecky has again broken records with a historic 13 Olympic medals in her name, the most of any American female athlete. Yesterday, she smashed records in taking her eighth gold and 12th Olympic medal.

Team USA took its first-ever gold in team fencing as the women's foil team beat Team Italy 45-39.

Team USA's Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul won their doubles match with Great Britain's Dan Evans and Andy Murray. The crowd erupted into "Andy, Andy!" chants as the British great gave a tearful goodbye.
This was Murray's last tennis game. The Americans applauded him at the end of the game, and he signed autographs as he left the court. Highly decorated, Murray is the holder of three Grand Slam titles, two Olympic golds, and 46 ATP singles titles. He has also won victories over Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic of Serbia beat Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece in two sets. He advances to the semifinals, where he will play Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.
This puts Djokovic another step closer to an Olympic gold; the 24-time Grand Slam winner has only ever taken the bronze at the Olympics.

Kate Douglass took the gold in the 200-meter breaststroke, Team USA's eighth gold this Olympics.

Summer McIntosh of Canada won gold in the 200-meter butterfly, her second gold and third medal this Olympics.
The 17-year-old was initially neck and neck with Zhang Yufei of China but came off the wall in the last lap at a speed that put her far ahead.

Reigning champion Suni Lee took bronze in the women's gymnastics all-around event. A medal was all but secured as she began her floor routine, sticking the landing of her first pass and giving a huge smile as the crowd exploded in cheers. The gymnasts before Lee had trouble with that landing, most stepping out of bounds.
Brazil's Rebeca Andrade was second to last on the floor, the last of the event, and USA's Simone Biles closed it out. The gymnasts were seen cheering each other on throughout the event.

Rebeca Andrade of Brazil was a breakout star in the women's gymnastics all-around event, winning silver after impressive scores in each event.
Halfway through the final, Andrade took the lead after Biles botched a transition on the uneven bars.

British swimming star Adam Peaty disclosed his positive test less than 24 hours after winning silver in the 100-meter breaststroke, and Australia’s Lani Pallister withdrew from the competition to conserve energy for the upcoming 4x200 freestyle relay.

American swimmer Katie Ledecky hasn’t finished setting Olympic records.
Ledecky earned her eighth career Olympic gold medal and 12th overall with a victory in the 1,500-meter freestyle in the Paris Games. She’s tied with Americans Dara Torres, Natalie Coughlin, and Jenny Thompson for the most medals ever by a female swimmer.
She is the first female swimmer to win gold medals in four Olympic Games. However, the 27-year-old Ledecky has no plans to retire and has her sights on competing in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

Team USA's Tommy Paul lost to Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and is out in men's singles.
Alcaraz, ranked No. 1 in the world in singles, is onto the semifinals in his first Olympics.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) issued a statement explaining a prior disqualification decision after Italian boxer Angela Carini forfeited her match against Alergian boxer Imane Khelif less than a minute into her match.
The IBA had disqualified Khelif from the world championships in 2023, and Carini's dramatic exit from the ring spurred online reports, some including falsities, that alleged the female boxer was matched against a "biological male" who failed testosterone tests.

Thursday starts the first day of the 72-hole competition for the men’s golf tournament at the Paris Summer Olympic Games.
The event will be played at Le Golf National, just outside Paris in Saint-Quention-En-Yvelines. The par-71 course will play 7,174 yards, and the facility previously hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup matches and the 2022 World Amateur Team Championship (Eisenhower Trophy).
