Joey Votto Posts a Video Thanking Cincinnati After Reds Decline His Contract Option and Let Him Go

CINCINNATI—Joey Votto posted a video on social media Sunday thanking the people of Cincinnati, one day after his 17-year career with the Reds apparently came to an end.

In a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday morning, the 40-year-old first baseman said that “if this is the last time I'll play as a Cincinnati Red, I want to speak out loud my gratitude.”
