Former Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was arrested over the weekend in Sugar Land, Texas, and charged with DWI.

According to Fort Bend County jail records, Peterson, 40, was taken into custody on Oct. 26 for allegedly driving while intoxicated and the unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The one-time NFL Most Valuable Player remained behind bars as of Monday, with bail set at a combined $3,000 for the Class A and Class B misdemeanor charges.

Further details on the circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unknown, as court records are not yet immediately available.

The Epoch Times reached out to the Sugar Land Police Department and Peterson’s management team for comment and did not hear back by the time of publication.

Back in April, Peterson was arrested in Minnesota on a fourth-degree misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired, after police pulled him over for speeding.

Peterson had attended an NFL Draft party for Vikings fans at U.S. Bank Stadium, and afterward was allegedly driving 83 mph in a 55-mph zone.

At the time, a preliminary breath test was administered and showed his blood alcohol content at 0.14 percent, exceeding the state’s legal limit for driving of 0.08 percent.

Peterson has been in trouble with the law before, including a 2022 arrest after an alleged domestic violence incident at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

A flight Peterson and his wife, Ashley Brown, were taking from LAX to Houston returned to the gate after a physical and verbal altercation occurred between them on the plane.

He was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence and released on $50,000 bail. Peterson was later required to complete 20 sessions of domestic violence and alcohol counseling.

Last year, Peterson was ordered by a Texas judge to turn over personal assets to repay more than $12 million in principal and interest on a $5.2 million loan he took out from a Pennsylvania-based loan company in 2016.

Peterson is a Texas native who attended high school in the eastern part of the state and currently resides in the Houston area.

In 2007, he was the No. 7 overall draft pick by the Vikings, after playing college football at the University of Oklahoma.

Peterson spent 15 seasons in the NFL, 10 of which were with the Vikings. He was named the league’s MVP in 2012 after rushing for more than 2,000 yards in a single season.

He was a four-time All-Pro, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and made league history as the fifth all-time leading rusher with 14,918 yards.
