Professional boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been arrested on battery and domestic violence charges in Florida, nearly a month after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.
According to Miami-Dade County inmate records, the 30-year-old was taken into custody on July 11 in Miami Beach before being transported by the Doral Police Department.
The WBA lightweight champion posted his $10,000 bond Friday afternoon, per arrest records, and was appointed a private attorney at jail arraignment.
The incident in question occurred last month outside of his ex-girlfriend’s residence in Doral, Florida.
Davis’s next arraignment hearing is scheduled for July 29 at 9:30 a.m. local time. Judge Elisabeth Maria Espinosa Marin, presiding over the case, issued a stay-away order instructing him to have zero pre-trial contact with the victim.
The Epoch Times has reached out to his promoter for comment and did not receive a response by the time of publication.
News of the arrest has put the potential Aug. 16 rematch between the two in limbo, with Roach reacting to the news on social media.
In video surveillance footage that circulated on social media at the time, the boxer was observed “battering his former girlfriend” on the campus of the University of Miami, according to the charges.
He was held on $1,500 bail and denied the allegations made against him.
Later that year, in November, Davis was accused of fleeing the scene of an accident after running a red light in his Lamborghini and crashing into a Toyota with four occupants inside, which included a pregnant woman.
Davis was also charged in two other domestic violence cases in South Florida, both of which were eventually dropped.
