Florida authorities have issued an arrest warrant for current WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis, stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident in October of last year.

During a press conference on Jan. 14, Miami Gardens Police said they are actively working with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend the 31-year-old boxer.
“As a result of the diligent and hard work of our special victims unit, an arrest warrant has been issued for Gervonta Bryant Davis on the following charges – battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping,” MGPD executive officer Emmanuel Jeanty stated.

The alleged incident occurred on Oct. 27 at a gentleman’s club in Miami Gardens where the woman, identified as Courtney Rossel, worked. Authorities claim Davis attacked Rossel in a back room of the establishment.

“The investigation determines that Mr. Davis used force to restrain and attempt to remove the victim from the location against her will,” said Jeanty. “The victim reported they were previously involved in an intimate relationship for approximately five months.”

“Lead detective Gary Florencio obtained and viewed video surveillance footage that corroborates key elements of the victim’s statement,” Jeanty stated.

“Domestic violence is a serious crime. The Miami Gardens Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and protecting victims.”

The Epoch Times reached out to the Miami Gardens Police Department for further information on the matter, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

The most recent warrant comes nearly a year after Davis was arrested, also in Florida, on battery and domestic violence charges.

Davis was taken into custody on July 11, 2025, in Miami Beach, Florida, after he allegedly assaulted another ex-girlfriend one month prior.

The Baltimore native has had a history of brushes with the law, including a 2020 domestic battery charge in Florida and jail time stemming from a hit-and-run crash that left four people injured that same year.
According to a police statement, Davis was first arrested and charged with battery and domestic violence in February 2020 after voluntarily turning himself in to the Coral Gables Police Department.

In November that same year, Davis was accused of fleeing the scene of an accident after running a red light in his Lamborghini and crashing into a vehicle with four occupants inside, including a pregnant woman.

In May 2023, he was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest after pleading guilty to four traffic offenses, and was later ordered to serve the remainder of his sentence behind bars following a June court hearing.

Davis was also charged in two other domestic violence cases in South Florida, both of which were eventually dropped.
